Idiom of the Day:

Hello Class!
We had a great Google meeting yesterday! Thank you to all the students who joined my meeting and for participating and sharing your thoughts and ideas! I hope more students will join our meeting today.
Today, we will have another Google meeting at 1:00. I would like to use this app regularly to meet with you, answer your questions, and read together. If you were unable to join the meeting yesterday, please join us today at 1:00 pm. I have emailed you all a new code and link to the meeting for today. If you have not downloaded the app on your phone, you will need to do that to join the meeting. Please email me if you have any questions.
The Meet app will look like this on your phone:

This Week’s Assignment:
You will need to complete this work (below) and email me the writing assignment by Thursday, April 9 (if you need the weekend to finish this work, that is OK). The writing assignment is for marks.
- Read the introduction to Who is Malala Yousafzai? (if you didn’t do this yesterday)
- Complete pg. 4 (Before Your Read) and pg. 7 (Dictionary Detective – Ch. 1) of the book study booklet (yesterday)
- Read Ch. 1 of the book (re-read if you did already)
- Do the assignment on pg. 8-10 of the book study booklet.
- Write a paragraph in your journal about Ch. 1 -I explained this in the meeting yesterday. This is the assignment that you will need to email to me. The instructions are below.
Chapter 1 – Who is Malala? Writing Assignment
For the writing assignment, you will write a paragraph in your journal (or please type it on your computer, if possible), about Ch. 1 of the Malala book. You can choose to write a Retell paragraph, or a Relate paragraph, or a Reflect paragraph. The instructions for this are below, but most of you already have this paper. Use your own words to write about the paragraph. Don’t copy from the book. The paragraph should be at least 5-7 sentences long (or more). Make sure to check your writing for mistakes and edit your work before you email it to me. Please take a picture of your paragraph and email it to me. Or, if you type it, please email the typing to me.
Please continue to check your emails and the blog each day. You can also email me if you have any questions.
As you know, classes will not continue in the school building for the rest of the school year, so students will continue to do school work at home. I strongly encourage you to continue with your learning by participating with me in our daily English classes. The school year is not cancelled! You will receive your final mark and 10E credit and will be ready to move to 20E if you continue to participate in this class. I am here to support you in completing your educational goals. Thank you for continuing to participate in my class.
Reminder:
This Friday, April 10, is Good Friday, so there will not be any classes or meeting tomorrow.
See you at 1:00! 🙂
