We reviewed some different grammar rules while correcting the language warm-up activity. We also went through the idioms from time assignment and corrected it together. We finished correcting the reading comprehension booklet from last week. We ended the class with reading and learning more about Louis Riel.
Here is the idioms from time assignment that we corrected together today. There will be a quiz on these idioms sometime this week.:
Some grammar topics reviewed in class today:
Possessive Nouns: A possessive noun is a noun that possesses something—i.e., it has something. In most cases, a possessive noun is formed by adding an apostrophe +s to the noun, or if the noun is plural and already ends in s, only an apostrophe needs to be added.
Contractions: A contraction is a word or phrase that has been shortened by dropping one or more letters. In writing, an apostrophe is used to indicate the place of the missing letters. Contractions are commonly used in speech (or written dialogue) and informal forms of writing.
