We reviewed the difference between singular and plural possessive noun with apostrophes today. Students also worked on completing the Ch. 5 questions and reflection (turn in). There will be a quiz on Ch. 3 & 4 vocabulary and on singular and plural possessive nouns tomorrow.
Singular and Plural Possessive Nouns with Apostrophes
A possessive noun shows ownership.
To make a singular noun possessive, add an apostrophe and s.
Example: the book of the teacher ——- the teacher‘s book
To make a regular plural possessive, just add an apostrophe.
Example: the books of the teachers ————– the teachers’ books.
To make an irregular plural noun that does not end in s possessive, add an apostrophe and s.
Example: the toys of the children —————— the children‘s toys
