We reviewed the difference between singular and plural possessive noun with apostrophes today. Students also worked on completing the Ch. 5 questions and reflection (turn in). There will be a quiz on Ch. 3 & 4 vocabulary and on singular and plural possessive nouns tomorrow.

Singular and Plural Possessive Nouns with Apostrophes

A possessive noun shows ownership.

To make a singular noun possessive, add an apostrophe and s.

Example: the book of the teacher ——- the teacher‘s book

To make a regular plural possessive, just add an apostrophe.

Example: the books of the teachers ————– the teachers’ books.

To make an irregular plural noun that does not end in s possessive, add an apostrophe and s.

Example: the toys of the children —————— the children‘s toys
