Students will work on a grammar assignment using Comparative Adjectives (hand in).

Students will also start the writing assignment about an unreasonable fear.

Students will work on a word families assignment related to the unit topic and a writing skills assignment contrasting ideas with the word, “however.”

Monday, May 27, 2019

Today’s class will be held in the Resource Room. Students will start a new unit about Fears. What are you afraid of? Do you easily become afraid? What do you do to stay safe? We will discuss this topic and students will write a paragraph in their journals about their fears.

Some students need to finish their Mandela projects today.

Students will start working on the unit assignments. They will read an article about fears and complete a vocabulary assignment.

For Spirit Week today, students who are wearing black or white will get a ticket to enter the draw for a gift card.

Students will continue to work on completing the Mandela projects.

REMINDER: Tomorrow is the last day of Spirit Week. For Decade Day, wear clothing from the 70's, 80’s or 90’s. The draw will be held on Monday and the winning tickets will be posted on the bulletin board outside the Guidance Office.

Today is the second day of Spirit Week. Students who are wearing bright, rainbow colours will get a ticket to enter the draw for a gift card.

Tuesday, May 21, 2019

Today is the first day of Spirit Week! Students who are wearing a sports jersey will get a ticket to enter the draw for a gift card prize.

Today students will write in their journals about the visit to the CMHR on Friday. What did you think about the museum? What part did you like the best? What did you think about the Mandela exhibit? Students will also write a “Reflection for Action” related to the Nelson Mandela exhibit. What is your commitment? What are you inspired to do for your community? Write about your ideas and what is important to you.

Students will also learn about how to create a “Works Cited” page for their Mandela projects.

REMINDER: Tomorrow is Rainbow Day for Spirit Week. Don’t forget to come to school dressed in bright colours.

We will be going to the Canadian Museum of Human Rights today from 12:00 to 2:00 to see the Nelson Mandela exhibit. We will take the Spirit Bus (free) together. Meet in the Teaching Garden at 12:00. Don’t be late!
